Prof. Robert Jech, MD PhD, is a neurologist with 25 years of experience in the field of movement disorders. He works at the Neurological Clinic 1. Medical Faculty of Charles University in Prague. He has a long term focus on patients with advanced Parkinson’s disease, dystonic syndromes and spasticity. Currently, he runs a centre for interventional treatment of movement disorders, which has the highest number of implanted patients in the Czech Republic. His research focuses on the effects of deep brain stimulation, the physiological mechanisms controlling volitional movements and the pathophysiological mechanisms of movement disorders (dystonia, myoclonus, tremor, parkinsonism and spasticity), analyzed using functional imaging and single cell recordings.
